Yiota Avraam is the Global Chief Marketing Officer at Getaround, the first peer-to-peer car-sharing platform and a leader in the gig carshare market. In her role, she oversees the marketing strategy for Getaround’s innovative connected device, which enables users to rent, locate, and unlock vehicles through the Getaround app.
Previously, Yiota served as the Global Chief Marketing Officer for Cornershop by Uber, where she successfully scaled the business and marketing teams across Latin America and North America. She launched and relaunched services in seven locations, driving growth in the on-demand grocery and retail delivery sector. Before that, Yiota was the General Manager and CMO for the International Business Unit at Ancestry.com, the leading company in consumer genomics. There, she managed the profit and loss (P&L) for the unit and led a diverse global team across multiple departments.
Yiota earned an MBA in Marketing and International Business from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Economics from Northwestern University. With a proven track record of driving sales and profits for startups and Fortune 500 companies, she excels in leading teams across diverse regions. She has also created significant net sales and profit growth for both VC and private equity-backed startups and Fortune 500 companies, achieving gross values from $250 million to multiple billions across varying marketing budgets. Her experience spans regions including North America, Latin America, EMEA, and APAC, where she has led distributed teams of all sizes. Yiota has also held various roles at eBay, including Marketing Director and Chief of Staff, where she managed the largest portfolio in North America. As Director of Global Consumer Growth at PayPal, she established global marketing KPIs to drive consumer engagement.
