Melanie Pitson is both the Vice President of Product Management at Major League Soccer and a Member of the Primary Ventures Expert Network (PEN). PEN is a group of leaders across NYC Tech and, as a member, she advices founders and operators within their primary portfolio.
With over 20 years of experience, she has led high-performing teams to deliver impactful digital solutions. Her expertise spans subscription, advertising, and eCommerce models for both D2C and B2B businesses. In addition, she develops product strategies, streamlines processes, and designs organizational structures that create growth and exceed customer expectations, working with both established enterprises and startups. Before her successful career, Melanie earned her BS in Marketing and Logistics from the University of Maryland. She also studied Artificial Intelligence from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Melanie’s career includes diverse leadership roles including Head of Product and Buyer Experience at Atlassian and Founding Member of Chief, a private network empowering executive women to amplify their leadership impact. Her entrepreneurial roles began as Co-founder and Chief Digital Officer at Moons, a company addressing women’s health, particularly around menstration and menopause. Beyond this, Melanie has provided effective digital product and eCommerce strategies for startups, growing businesses, and large enterprises, some of which including Tribune Publishing, Entertainment Benefits Group, Harri, and The Cru (acquired by Luminary). Earlier in her career, she held significant positions at various companies including NBCUniversal, ABC News, Thomson Reuters, Vindigo, Specialty Signs, and Acorn Media Group.
