Dr. Gregory Makris is the Senior Director and Global Clinical Lead for Vascular, Thrombosis, and Haemophilia programs at Bayer, where he leads an international team in advancing the field of vascular medicine. Based in London, UK, he is a specialist in endovascular therapies and interventional radiology (IR) and serves as an honorary consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Dr. Makris integrates advanced research with clinical expertise, shaping the future of IR through both hands-on practice and innovation. 

Gregory’s entrepreneurial eagerness grew during his time at the startup company Oxford Heartbeat, where he helped with surgical planning for endovascular procedures. Beyond his professional pursuits, he is an advocate for IR education and global health, actively working to establish training programs in underserved regions. 

After earning his Ph.D. in vascular surgery from Imperial College London, he cultivated his knowledge with fellowships at Cambridge and Oxford. Gregory has held influential positions including Senior Vascular and Interventional Radiology Fellow at Oxford University and Chairman of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE). During his roles, he was central in advancing techniques that are now standard in IR.
