Bill Ford brings over two decades of experience investing in and helping to build leading growth companies including e*Trade, Priceline, and First Republic Bank. As CEO of General Atlantic, Bill has deepened the firm’s global presence, increased its capital base, and expanded its capabilities to identify high potential growth companies across multiple sectors and geographies. Bill joined GA in 1991 and became CEO in 2007. He currently serves on the boards of several portfolio companies including Tory Burch, Oak Hill Advisors, and Markit. He is also on the Advisory Board of TBG Limited. He was formerly a director of prior GA portfolio companies including First Republic Bank, NYSE Euronext, e*Trade, Priceline, NYMEX, and Zagat Survey. Bill is Chairman of GA’s Executive Committee and is a member of its Investment, Portfolio, and Capital Committees. Bill is involved with a number of educational and not-for-profit organizations. From 2001 to 2013, he served as a Trustee of Amherst College and currently chairs the college’s Investment Committee. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Rockefeller University, and is a member of the Board of Trustees of The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Lincoln Center, and The New York Genome Center. Bill is active in business education and serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Advisors of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and serves on the Advisory Board of Tsinghua University’s School of Economics and Management. Bill serves on the Executive Committee of the Partnership for New York City, is a member of The Council of Foreign Relations, and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Committee on United States-China Relations.
