Reintroduce Greeks and foreigners to delicious Greek gastronomy..
Ergon promotes Greek gastronomy in Greece and abroad since 2008 through 1,200 products in total and 600 branded premium quality products offered in partnership with 150 independent Greek producers. It has also created concept stores, where products are sold but also served on a special menu by Dimitris Skarmoutsos with respect to tradition and nutritional value. London has been the first stop abroad, where the store opened in 2014 and serves 4,500 customers monthly. The company’s target is to increase global presence with 25 additional stores until 2018. In 2015, a concept store named Ergon Agora opened in Thessaloniki which includes restaurant, coffee shop, deli, butchery, bakery, grocery, fishmonger and cava to offer a great variety of Greek products.
From a young age, Thomas’s grandfather and father instilled in Thomas an entrepreneurial drive and a deep-rooted love of Greek cuisine. Thomas’s grandfather owned a traditional local deli. Like his father, Thomas’s father was also involved in the Greek food business, having set up a food distribution company. With a passion for food and an eye for design, Thomas attended the University of Macedonia, earning a degree in Applied Informatics in Economics. Following graduation, Thomas joined the family business, working at his father’s logistic company.
While working for his father, where he met producers and collectors from all over Greece, Thomas realized there was no single, unified brand that could guarantee an array of high-quality Greek products. Together with his brother George, Thomas partnered with the best local producers to optimize their production and packaging processes in order to establish the Ergon consumer brand.
