Workable is an Athens-based startup that helps Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) manage their recruiting, promote their jobs online, review candidates and schedule interviews with its cloud-based end-to-end recruiting software. Workable’s software facilitates the hiring process from start to finish, saving SMEs time and money so they can compete for top tier talent. Users can post jobs on dozens of websites, including Indeed, Linkedin, and Monster, acquire applicants, track candidates and schedule interviews all from a central platform enabling seamless collaboration. With 5,000 clients in 88 countries, 94 employees and equity capital of US$34.5M raised from several investors, including Greylock Partners and Balderton Capital, Workable is quickly gaining traction within the SME-hiring market.
Nikos Moraitakis, co-founder and CEO of Workable, studied computer programming at Imperial College London. Nikos spent five years in IT consulting at Ernst & Young before moving to Dubai to lead expansion for UpStream, a mobile marketing company. As VP of Business Development, Nikos was responsible for the enterprise sales, playing a key role in growing the company from startup to key player. As an early employee, Nikos did a lot of hiring and realized that while many tools existed to facilitate the process for big enterprises, there were very few for SMEs. Consequently, after seven years in Upstream, he decided to return to Greece and in 2012, he teamed up with his former colleague at UpStream, Spyros Magiatis the co-founder and CTO of Workable. They both began forming Workable aiming to give non-expert recruiters an efficient and inexpensive hiring experience.
